Emergency Fire Watch Services

Altora Security coordinates emergency fire watch staffing, AHJ requirements, patrol logs and restoration support for California commercial properties.

24/7 quote and dispatch intake. Call for urgent coordination. For an active fire or immediate danger, call 911.

When is a fire watch required?

An impaired fire alarm, sprinkler system or other required protection can trigger a fire watch, evacuation or another measure directed by the fire authority. Contact the AHJ promptly rather than assuming the building can remain occupied.

  • Identify the impaired system, affected floors and expected outage duration.
  • Coordinate with the property’s impairment coordinator and local fire department.
  • Follow the AHJ’s written instructions for occupied areas and permitted activities.

What does Altora coordinate?

Altora provides fire watch staffing and compliance dispatch, with patrol coverage matched to the property and the fire authority’s requirements.

  • Confirm guard qualifications, any required certifications and site-specific briefing before assignment.
  • Dedicated patrol personnel, route coverage and an escalation procedure.
  • Patrol times, observations, incidents and corrective action recorded in a log.

How does the watch end?

The watch continues until protection is restored and the applicable authority permits the temporary measures to end. A repaired panel alone does not establish clearance.

  • Coordinate alarm repair, testing and restoration documentation.
  • Retain patrol logs and incident reports for property management and AHJ review.
  • Confirm the release instructions with the fire authority.

Fire Watch Services FAQs

Can I request fire watch service at any time?

Yes. Altora accepts fire watch quote and dispatch intake 24/7. Call for urgent coordination; coverage, staffing and arrival are confirmed by Altora, not by an online submission.

Are patrol intervals the same for every building?

No. The AHJ determines the approved intervals, routes, duties and documentation. Building use, occupied areas and the impaired protection affect the watch requirements.

Does fire watch replace the fire department?

No. For smoke, fire or an immediate threat, call 911 and follow the emergency plan. Fire watch is a temporary impairment measure, not emergency response.

What should I have ready for dispatch?

Provide the address, site contact, impaired system, occupied areas, AHJ instructions, requested start time and expected duration. Keep notices and impairment records available.
